Honestly, I gotta say I'm mildly disappointed. Something like this is going to be a gigantic undertaking; if they do play a tour it'll involve rehearsals, hiring hundreds of people, etc. (although I gotta wonder if things will evolve this way, given how Stewart and Andy have both railed against The Police, Inc. in interviews and Andy's book).
Anyway, guess I'd hoped for a new Klark Kent or Oysterhead record this year. Instead, even if I get to see 'em, there probably won't be any new recorded output from anybody...and I guess I'm just an old curmudgeon, but I kinda hate stadium shows, or anything much larger than a club.
(Tonight I went to see Jeff Tweedy and Glenn Kotche of the band Wilco at a medium size auditorium; more about 'em in another thread. Anyway, a bunch of drunk yahoos were obnoxiously screaming song requests out of the balcony, the girl in front of me kept flipping open a *really bright* laptop computer that blinded everyone in the row - not that she cared - and the woman next to me wore perfume so strong it made me and Hub both nauseous...the show was sold out and no chance to get up and change seats...
Guess I'm just getting old, but if I can't see somebody in a smaller venue where the chance of hassle from other audience members is lessened, I'm about getting where I won't go at all.)
[Edit: I reread this and it sounded REALLY curmudgeonly...I should probably add that I live in a town cram packed with really great bands you can see for $5 in a bar any night of the week...which still sounds awful, but I'm hoping y'all will forgive me.
I bet others here have access to good local music too. Someday I'd like to hear about it.]
