'Voices' question

'Voices' question

Postby MPR on 04 Dec 2006 20:05

Hi all
I'm new here.
Great site, have enjoyed reading a lot over the past couple of weeks.
I have a couple of questions for fans more knowlegeable than I am.
I hope you don't find these too boring - I'm sure you've seen them asked before.

My first question concerns The Police 'Voices Inside My Head'

There is a different version of this record by The Police which I cannot find.
It has a different percussion / drum arrangement and may have been used as 'intro' music at the band's concerts.

Does this version exist anywhere on a format that I can buy?
If not, do you think this version would be available to download on the net somewhere?

Thanks in advance for any replies or help.

This version of Voices sounds very similar to the Ghost in the Machine demos that Sting did.

The drums/percussion sound like they are coming from the Sony "Beat Box" that Sting used for writing, which you can see on the Montserrat interview from the Greatest Hits DVD. He had a name for it, but I can't remember what is.

I wouldn't be surprised if this version is actually a demo sting did for the Zenyatta album. Does anyone know?
