I think the people who baked this could mail one to you Giovanni.

Does that mean I can entice you and Darlene to come to La Jolla if I promise to bring a cake? I was sad to hear you two may not be joining us there!

Thanks pfan for the photo and the bump. If you go to the Harper site, pfan's picture is now what you see as the cover.

Cover Revealed...round two...ding...and there's the bell...

Honestly, I don't think this cover should cause much controversy. But gong knows I've been wrong before.

Anyway, I do like this cover a lot. The title reverberating out of the drum is a cool idea. However, it's a little confusing to read. We have the advantage of knowing the title ahead of time. Somebody seeing the book for the first time may have trouble figuring it out. Polo and Pygmies are just kind of hanging there. Nonetheless, the purpose of a book cover is to capture the potential reader's attention and convey an idea of what the book might be about. This cover does that admirably in my opinion. (It even accomodated those awful bullet things, the scurge of punctuation, in a way that doesn't make me apoplectic.) ETA: On closer inspection with cleaner glasses I now realize that the bullets are gone in favour of conventional, reliable, adorable commas. Serial no less. And sadly, this is all making me giddy.

The book now has a Twitter and a face book page. Let the hype campaign begin.

BOOK TOUR * BOOK TOUR * BOOK TOUR * BOOK TOUR * BOOK TOUR * BOOK TOUR * BOOK TOUR * BOOK TOUR * BOOK * TOUR * BOOK TOUR * BOOK TOUR *

Here I go again. I wanted to add that I'm not digging the choice of colours for the lettering. The white in Stewart's name blends in with the drum and the blue doesn't always work well against the blacks and greys.

Of course, this may not be the absolute final cover.

The cover has not been posted on Amazon yet. Until I see it up there, I would not assume it's the final cover.

Pretty. The type is crick-inducing, but the cover is pretty.

Yeah, I really like the idea -- I think it's smart -- but I'm not in love with the execution. It's not an easy photo to work with, though, so my main beef is that "and" is illegible. That, and I don't personally love the legless/floating-out-of-a-vortex thing, but I can understand why that choice was made. I do like the overall movement of it.

Thanks, pfan!
